"American" is an ethnicity only when referring to Native Americans/American Indians. Since they, too, emigrated from Eurasia, and likely to there from Africa (dependant upon your religious views), it's still not 100% accurate.

Being of European descent, are you Hispanic? Italian? Greek? Hungarian? German? Scottish? Irish? Danish? Swedish? There are lots of ethnicities claiming various parts of Europe as their own...

50% Australian, 15% English, 5% Irish, 20% Scottish, 5% Welsh and 5% New Zealander.
What a mix eh!?!
