In my experience there is no such thing as luck-
that's just bragging! there is luck 🙂
That's what I'm talking about Gun, Maul can fight against a master and a knight, he can kill the master, he is victorious against the knight, but then, all of a sudden, a stupid move, that could be easily blocked costs him his life, that's luck!
It was arrogance on Maul's part. Typical bad guy fallacy. Thought his opponent was beaten.
Clearly Maul was the better duellist, of course. But his arrogance was his undoing.
Likewise, Obi-Wan failed against Maul when trying to use anger, and beat him when he tried a more thoughtful tactic.

but it goes like this:
movies > novalizations > eu
so if something is said in eu, it can be overdone by novalizations, and that can be overdone by the movies, and in the movies it's not said so, anger was there...
