I've recently started a new Dragon Age: Origins character and I'm having a lot more fun than last time I started one. I couldn't really get into it before but I think approaching the game with a more patient attitude helps a lot. There's a lot of micromanaging, and a LOT of dialogue/cut scenes (especially if you tend to select as many dialogue options as possible like I do) but if you can embrace that kind of playing then it's really great.

I really like that game. Have you tried the Dark Brotherhood cheat? You know that guy name Vincent Lachance? I think that's his name. Well he sends you a message to meet him at an abandoned fort just outside of town.
There's a large tree that you can access to meet up with him instead of going the long way through the fort littered with battle skeletons. Once you reach him, and accept his proposal to exterminate the Dark Brotherhood members, don't leave the fort right away by using the rope ladder.
You can power level up by doing battle with him and resting in the bed within the gated chamber, and because you are in a fort there is no penalty for continuously killing him, and because it's a secret mission, you will take no faction penalty from the Dark Brotherhood 😈 .
I leveled up my various magical abilities, hand to hand, armor, sword, axe... you name it, before even beginning the main quest. Once you level up, and have enough money (make sure you have lots of loot), you can also go and see a trainer (each time you level up that is), and run right back to Lachance, and whip his monkey @$$ until you reach another level.
