Ush> Okay, let me try to make my point clearer.
You conclude that Machine Society is evil because it terminates outdated or faulty programs. Something we, humans, do not do.
The point of my previous statements have been to: Show that certain human societies have come close, and, that we accept behaviour (such AS abortion of handicapped fetuses) which comes close. This was not done to disagree with the “evil” Machine Society, but to eventually ask about “evil” in human society AS compared to the defined evil of Machine Society.
We have to keep in mind, that it may be a lot easier for machines to create a new program-AI, than it is for us, humans, to create a new human. It takes 9 months for us, and then years and years of upbringing and teaching. Here in DK your of age when you’re 18. That is, you’re now considered an adult homo sapiens 😄
The Machines probably do not come even close to that amount of time in creating a new AI-program. If they did, they’d probably view deletion with different eyes?
JediHDM> I’m not saying religion has NOT influenced our values (however, I believe they arise without religion, but THAT is a different topic, for another time 😄). However, since so many religions, worldwide, have the same values “no stealing, no lying, no killing” etc., that to me shows, that these values are UNIVERSALLY accepted as “good” among humans.
Gattaca. Ah, yes. The number of cosmetic surgery shows our society value beauty, and that it somehow makes a person more “valuable” (understand it in the context, please).
I think I’m not following this:” saying that something is not efficient or desirable and saying it is evil are two totally different things, and just because one is true, does not mean the other is.”
Could you clarify? No one is saying inefficient/undesirable equals evil. It is CLAIMING that inefficiency is undesirably (which the Machines do) which Ush labels as “evil”.
