And Newjack, which one are you on?

Just finished the 3rd one this past weekend. Planning on getting started with the fourth this weekend.

Have you read them all?

Just finished the last Codex Alera book.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

That's a fun one.

Is the book substantially better than the movie? Cos that kind of sucked ass.

I have it on my to-read, but I keep pushing it off since I watched the film.

Honestly, I don't even remember if the book was good.

I do remember it being entertaining as hell, though. The child-on-child violence is much more graphic in the book.

Read them a few years back. Pretty good in terms of action, but the descriptions get kind of repetitive for a lot of things (it became tiresome constantly hearing about how someone experiences a 'silver lance' of pain--WTF does that even mean?) and there was next to no character development for all but a few characters (Tavi, Aquitanus (in the last two), the vord queen (lol)) for the entire series. By the end of the series, the vast majority of the characters may have gained new abilities and forged new relationships, but at their core they're unchanged and continue to behave and act in the same way. Not to say its always a bad thing-I like Bernard for instance and wouldn't have wanted to see him change too much.

Cool I just finished reading them and I was okay with other characters not getting too much advancement as I liked so many of them from start to finish.

I would say Fidilas got probably the next best character development.

Bernard was one of my favorites as was Doroga.

Yeah, I forgot Fidelias. He's a pretty good character.

Yeah when we first met I did not think his story arc was going to end up the way it did.

'I am Pilgrim' by Terry Hayes.

What is it about?

'Reaper Man' by Terry Pratchett.

I am getting a book related to Tim Burton's new film Big Eyes. They will call me at B&N when it comes in.

All this time, I thought I was following for Miss Pereguine and the Peculiar Children.

The Iliad again.
