The suicide was a flashback. It begins and ends with her.
Mrs. Dalloway's the main character in Woolf's book by the same name. A lady who throws a party, while, at the same time, a young man she doesn't know goes crazy and finally kills himself by jumping out a window. Clarissa's life is supposed to reflect this plot.
