I'm starting on Pullman's The Golden Compass. I was reading King's Dreamcatcher, but I put it down, and I haven't gotten around to picking it up again. I'm in the process of reading Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and a book by Spiegelman entitled Maus.
I don't know.... The interesting thing about Maus is that it's the first mainstream comic, so I heard. The symbolism is really good. He portrays the Germans as cats and the Jews as mice. It's told like an autobiography from the author's father.
"Some kids were screaming and screaming. They couldn't stop. So the Germans swinged them by the legs against a wall...and they never anymore screamed." - Maus / Spiegelman
