Does anyone know the most effective way of breaking open a locker?

Foot! Kick down on the lock. It won't work on a master lock, but if the lock is built into the door it should. Granted you'll break the lock, but mission accomplished. 😄

What if the locker door is like a lid which has to be lifted? Is it better to use a claw hammer or a crowbar to wrench it open?

why don't you use the key?

Hard as the flaming key has disappeared.

crow bar would be better if you had it, but the claw side of the hammer should do well. I would use the crow bar, because it's easier to get leverage.

My means are not great 🙁 but I have seen a claw hammer quite cheap and the lock is not good quality at all.

i would ask somebody to open door for me... 😕

That's no good, then I'd get an excessive fine.
