Very, VERY true. I can't charm a woman when I think of Ush on the other side... it's like all those scary stories about preteen kids and 40-year-old predators they show on the news alot.
Well, for straight duelling, almost certainly a Sword, that is what it is there for.
Of course, there are then things like Hook Swords, which work well against opponents dependant on Melee weapons...
... and so on.
There is not meant to be an ideal weapons; weapons are meant to be good at different things. The Sword is designed to be King in one-on-one duels.

Lesson 2 is that you don't have to get many successes with Swords to do LOTS of damage...
Lesson 3 - knives let you rack up a lot of successes which makes up for the fact that they're such low-damage weapons.
Which is why I like them...
