Jim drove to the highway and took it to NJ until it was dark and let Zack drive again.

Zack pulled their car into a gas station/diner. He went into the diner and sat down at a table.

Karen walked in after him and told Jim she just wanted a cup of water.

Zack ordered drinks from the waitress. He looked around and saw a group of burly truckers in the corner. laughing over a joke. Several other customers sat around, and a police car was pulling into the car park.

Karen looked at the window and saw the car pull in and she drank her water fast without taking a breath.
