"I guess the others were moved to another camp, maybe even worse." Shadow said to Zack (Matt) abbout the other mutants, those who had come and broken the mutants out of the first camp and tried to help those in the second.
"That means only you, me and Karen have been at this from the start, we're the only ones who know what we're up against..." Shadow said looking down, there didn't seem to be much of a chance for them.
"Like I said, there's a road over there. Karen went there earlier, and by my guess there'll be a roadblock set up. All we need to do, if you're able, is get into a van, and then talk to the driver. If needs be, I can help persuade him."
Zack's short time in the camp, seeing the suffering of others, had changed him. He now would do what he needed to ensure survival, of himself and the others.
~oooo ooo he's coming back?! 😛~
Matt walked to the edge of the trees, where a row of cars were clearly visible queing by a police checkpoint. One by one cars were being let through the barrier, moving slowly down the road, which had been narrowed by wooden fences to one lane. Halfway up the queue, more or less equal with where they were standing, was a red minivan. Behind it was another, both painted with a private school emblem. The two drivers were in the front one, playng cards by the look of things.
He pointed to the car about to move through the checkpoint,
"Can you stop that car? That'll foul up the queue, and the police will be diverted from the line while I reason with the drivers of those vans. I'll need you back pretty quick, though, since I can't drive both of them. You just get back and get in the other van, then follow me."
~Who's comming.......damned dirty mind....~
"As long as I can hold my breath, yes" Shadow said phasing into the floor. He ran forwards through the dirt and poped up where he thought the car was. He guessed right. The car swerved and crashed into the barrier, lying sideways across the road. Shadow took another deep breath and popped underground again, running fot the vans.
Zack jogged down to the vans, knocking on the window. When the two drivers got up and out, he pointed to the woods,
"Help, my little girl's hurt her ankle while we waited for the queue to move!" Seeing he hadn't wholly convinced them, he continued, "I saw the emblem, and knew you guys would have some medical training! Please!"
This seemed to decide the two drivers. One grabbed a medkit and they ran up to the woods, Zack in the lead. When they were just out of sight of the cars, Zack turned to them,
"Sorry," he said, before punching one out, knocking the man out cold. the ther lunged at him, btut Zack dodged, elbowing the man in the head. Making a grabbing motion at him, Zack lifted the man into the air with his mind, and flicking his arm to the side, knocked him just hard enough on the tree to put the man unconcious as well. Rifling thorugh the pockets of the two men, he felt unnaccountably like a criminal. Finally he found the keys and ran back to the vans, tossing one set to Shadow, before anyone could object.
"Let's go!" he said, moving his car onto the slope into the woods.
