~Force!!!! I take it you got my e-mail then. When you and everyone else dissappeared we kinda made out that you had been moved to another camp. But we could just have it as you were there and we didn't see you~
Shadow fell back into the van. He hoped they'ld get the hotel. He then got up and wandered off to get some food.
~To Maccy D's the home of mutant food 😛~
After getting some grub he then walked to the van and slept in the back.
~Force, we're not fighting anyone, just buying a hotel 😉 Nice to see you back though! 😄~
Zack kept driving to the town hall, where the auction was to be held. Inside there was an assortment of farmers and other locals, and from what Zack could see, none of them would have enough to outbid him. As soon as the hammer was raised on Lot 34(the hotel) Zack started bidding. He calculated he had about $600,000 so he bid at $300,000. Noone else made a bid after that, and although a few heads turned to look at the out-of-towners, noone made a deal out of payment in cash.
As nemx was standing at the van, a police man came over to him "What are you doing here"policeman asked. "just waiting for friends"nemx said. "ok, is this your van"policeman asked. "well of course why would i be standing next to one"nemx said. "i dont like your tone of voice ok, i aws just asking a question."the policeman said. then the police walked off. "jackass" nemx said.
Two policemen walked into the hall just as Zack was recieving the deed papers. The shiny star on the leading man's jacket denoted him as sheriff, and by the looks of the shotgun his eighteen-year old deputy was holding, they weren't here to buy a house. The people in the seats turned around, a few calling out greetings. At the front of the room, a tall figure in a long coat stood up. Turning round, Zack noticed the man's eyes were strangely blank.
The sheriff's deputy, toying with his gun nervously, called out,
"Now, Raymond, we don't want no trouble!"
Putting his hand on the nervous boy's shoulder, the sheriff spoke. "Listen, Raymond, the Government's just told us there's a bunch of your kind loose from prison. Y'know, muties. They've gone past here, apparently, so we was just wanting to say that we need to take you into custody for a bit, 'til the Agency's gone past. It's not like you've got a choice."
The man called Raymond walked toward them, his hair tempered with white. As he got closer, Zack realised he must have been about 60. One of the oldest mutants. The sheriff put up a hand,
"Now Raymond, you heard Junior. We don't want to hurt you."
The old man kept walking, his back straight and his face proud. He neared the pair, and Junior pulled up his shotgun, his arms shaking. Suddenly, just as it looked like Raymond was a goner, another old man at the front of the hall stood up.
"Don't be an idiot, Pete. You know we don't care for the Government's mutant laws around here. Let Raymond go. He's not been any bother since he arrived, and he won't be now." A chain of office around his neck symbolised the mayor, and the sheriff backed down, shaking his head. Raymond stalked out of the door, and Zack made his excuses to hurry after him.
Somewhere...
"Sir...we've just recieved word. We have only limited power in Pennslvania. The local police force is refusing to he........"
"It's OK. We don't need them to do anything. Just wait a little while longer. You must wait until the prey is unaware of anything, until they think they're safe...then you pounce..."
"But sir, they're mutants...they'll never be unaware..."
"Captain, do you know how many mutants they've got there?...how many escaped from that camp? They've got alot of kids and teenagers there, they'll all soon get together, be a family, feel safe, and then they'll be no stopping us."
Zack came out of the building, looking around for Raymond, but the old man had disappeared. Shaking his head in bewilderment, he walked up to the gang,
"Right, we now own that hotel. I say we get to work fixing it up. The reason I got it was I heard it had an old bomb shelter in the basement, from Cold War times. The guys who owned it reckoned if they had a big enough bunker, and the Ruskies invaded, they'd be able to hide. Now all we need to do it find it."
