"Ok, I think this is it..." Shadow said looking at the ladder, "I dunno where we'll come out though"

"u can check cant u?" Karen asked him, not wanting to know if it comes out on a road.

"I'll see." Shadow slowly climbed the ladder and phased through the manhole cover slightly, so he could look out. "It's Ok it leads to an alley, near McDonalds by the looks of things"

good,she thought. she went to the ladder and got ready to climb after Shadow was out.

Shadow phased through the manhole cover and then lifted it off, allowing Karen to get out. He then lended Karen his hand to help pull her out, but his hand phased through hers on the first couple of attempts, before he actually managed to grab it.

"r u ok with your powers?" she asked once she was out, and started to look around for anything familiar.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just...nothing" He lied, he was loosing control of his phasing ability, when he had fallen off the tower and phased through the floor he hadn't meant too. He had even noticed that he was beginning to be able to phase without holding his breath. "You want some food, or a drink?" he said indicating McDonalds

"uh, a drink would be fine." she said wondering if she would ever tell him she cant really eat.

Shadow picked up the order and held onto his burger and Karens drink so tight he thought they would explode. He didn't want them to phase through his hand in a crowded place, not again.

Karen sat down and got her drink. "so, do u have any idea of where we can go?"

"Not a clue, I've just been moving from town to town trying to hide behind a normal life. But then again I guess that'll never happen, we're not normal" He kept his voice quiet and looked around eying everyone suspiciously.

" i only came here lookin for my brother, but he was at the mutant camp...." Karen said queitly to him.

"I wonder where he is now, we can go find him if you want" Shadow said still looking around and taking a bite from his McChicken Premier (Oh yes they're back)

"yes, i want to, and i wonder if hes looking for me. He was the one that told me to come here to live with him...."

"Where do you think he'll have gone? Does he have a home here?" Shadow asked having finished looking around the area, it seemed clear.

"You don't mind if I tag along?" Shadow added slightly embarresed.

"He should have a place, but i guess not since he did get captured," Karen answered and then she smilied."yes u can tag along."
