Two sequels. Um, how about 1?

One of the reasons that M1 was praised was due to its taut story line. And one of the reasons that M2 and M3 have been criticised is due to them "stretching out their fairly thin, basic premise". Though these are the opinions of critics and not me, I can kind of see their point that "In M2 neo spends the whole movie just trying to visit some old dude in a chair for 5 minutes".

I personally can't imagine this BUT - do you think the two sequels would have worked best as one movie?

I think that most people diss the matrix sequels because there is a gap betweenthe first two. the first film was popular because we were shown this strange world and brought through it at the same pace as Neo. In the second film, Neo knows his place in the world and as the audience don't, they feel stranded in this world that they have only been shown a part of.

Hmmm, maybe a Matrix 1.5 of some sort would be a good idea then?

Possibly.

Any more thoughts on condensing the sequels?

Oh, and this is my 200th post, btw. Woohoo!

One day Zion is the magical city full of the last remaining free humans.

The next it's a orgy.

I guess we did need a little more time to adapt.

You mean an orgy isn't magical?!??!?

I agree the time span between when the movies were made makes a huge difference on how people accept the movie.

I think it would have been great as 1 movie, in fact didn't the W.Bros say it was meant to be one movie and never split up in the first place??

If thats the case people say they had an idea for a trilogy the whole time, but if Reloaded and Revolutions are meant to be one it doesn't exactly make a trilogy.

again the orgy disscusion...

i was meant to be one big movie (M2+M3), but many ppl didn't like the way they ended, they didn't understand it..

and yes, it isn't a trilogy (i've been saying that a lot in this forum)...but still a good story

I think the Matrix movies are what they are, some people appreciate them, some don't. The fact that they went and made an Anime related video that interconnected with the live action feature films, is so unorthodox and genius at the same time. The Brothers have the power to just say 'f*ck it' and do whatever they want, practically. I think the Matrix was worth all that it is and was and possibly will be. It's definitely intriguing, that's for damn sure.

If the architect is going to free the 1% that refuse the code(like neo) then does this mean that now 1% of the population of the matrix are as well abled as neo? If so, then there could be the possibility of more spin-off movies that are SET in the matrix but not ABOUT the matrix.

If you mean multiple anomalies, then no.

What does he mean when he says he will free the 1%?

He means that he's going to free them from the matrix.

free them to destroy the machines?

I dont think they should have made any sequels.

All I heard was a rumour about a prequel...but other than that!....I dunno! 🙄

surely 'Animatrix' and 'Enter the Matrix' did this?
provided back info and fills in character+story gaps between 1 and 2

My sentiments exactly although, I did enjoy the second movie and to this day I still watch it quite often.

I dunno I just did not like the third movie. I mean I did like the scenes in zion but, the movie as a whole was not up to par with the expectations of a HUGE part of the fan base. Nothing will bring back the "buzz" of the matrix...well maybe a surprise fourth installment to "right all the wrong's" but the wac. bros seem to be too proud to go back on their word even after a failure like Matrix revolutions so I guess that would never happen.

Mook - I meant a Matrix 1.5 with the regular cast...
