Born and raised in Colorado Springs by her single mother, after she and her father divorced soon after her birth, Ramana exhibited her mutant abilities at an early age. Her mother was very pleased with this because she had often wished for her daughter to be a mutant. In a world where mutants were highly detested the only other person who knew of this fact was her father and foster brother, Pyro.
The first power to manifest itself was the ability to heal herself and others when her mother fell from the roof and broke her hip and arm. Ramana, then only three years old, leaned beside her Mom to see if she was okay. To both of their amazements she started to glow a beautiful mauve colour which soon past into her mother’s broken body. In a short time Nicole was fully healed. She picked her daughter up into her arms, crying with complete happiness. Her daughter had a chance in this horrible world now that she was clearly a mutant.
Following soon after was the purple energy, which soon grew into full-blown electrical energy. During a severe storm one night when she was ten years old she felt drawn to the intense energy she could feel all around her. Running out into the open, to the protests of her worried mother, she was soon struck by a bolt of intense lightning, thunder exploding all around. Throwing back her arms she let the power run through her. This resulted in the manifestations of most of her other abilities over the next two years.
When she was about fourteen her mother took in a foster child who was also a mutant who exhibited the ability to manipulate flame. His name was St John Allerdyce, or Pyro, and they got on like a house on fire (excuse the pun) because of their sharing a similar power.
In that same year her mother had a run in with the, then highly ranked, William Stryker who tried to tell her that her daughter was a menace to society. Nicole told him where to go which left a deep anger in Stryker’s heart for he had had a crush on her. He told her to choose between a stinking mutant and him. It was so obvious whom she chose. Stryker left never to be seen again until Ramana was nearly sixteen. During a time when her powers were at their lowest Stryker raided her home one night when she was alone, kidnapping her and making her a part of his Weapon X program.
Ramana escaped soon after the operation was done after Stryker made the mistake she had no memory of who she was. He had planned to mould her into thinking she was his daughter who hated mutants as much as he did even though she was one herself. In escaping Ramana killed her first human. A thing she vowed never to do again.
She went home but soon realized she was in danger so, not wanting to put her mom or anyone else she loved in danger, she hit the road, travelling, always keeping one to two steps ahead of those pursuing her.
Ramana’s Powers are as follows:
1a) Regenerative ability – if the wound is great Ramana must have access to her natural recharger, lightning. This lightning must come from a storm cell.
b) Able to heal others – there is no limit to what wounds, diseases, etc, she can heal but, as with regenerative powers, it depends on the extent of the injury or health risk that determines how long it takes to heal it – the longer it takes the more she is drained of strength but access to lightning helps quicken the amount of time, therefore using up less energy. It also depends on the wounds, etc, to determine whether she must stay in direct contact with the person or not.
Eg. A flesh wound – bullet, knife, etc, may take anywhere from one second to several hours to days, depending on the extent of the wound, whether she has access to lightning, or whether she stays in direct contact or not.
More than one wound, as in the case of Cat Wings, takes direct contact until completely healed.
2a) Purple Energy/Electricity – this power has its basis in natural lighting therefore without this connection this power would be useless. The energy glow happens according to her emotions and will. The electricity she can generate is an extension, which can be formed many different ways – leaves fingertips, forms as a ball in palm of hands or between both hands, or can electrocute someone with whole body. Because of the connection to lightning Ramana can create and control this side, as well as thunder, of a storm cell.
b) Impenetrable shield - this energy enables her to form a shield around herself and others. Because of the electricity involved she must recharge after extensive use. This shield will automatically activate to protect her whilst she is sick, unconscious, or out of action.
c) Invisibility Shield - this power is also somewhat connected to Ramana’s phasing ability. When this power is around her no one can see, feel, or sense her. She can also turn others invisible by passing this power into them by direct physical contact. As in the case of Storm, the shield causes someone to walk right through her without realizing they have done so.
3. Telekinetic – incorporates the usual ability of being able to levitate objects, living or inanimate, with mind, with little or no effort. Can utilise this to fix things, eg. Smashed glass, broken down machinery, etc.
4. Pyro kinetic – full-fledged – creates and controls fire.
5. Telempathic – whilst Ramana is somewhat able to read people’s minds she cannot control them. She has a special connection with those she is close to, particularly those she has healed. Can feel their pain, if they are in danger, and communicate with them over vast distances. Ramana has a special connection with Wolverine because of the similar trauma they both experienced with the adamantium bonding process. Telepathically she can only talk to those she is not close to for a short time. Can be for longer with the help of Cerobro.
6) Teleporter – anywhere on Earth only – can take up to three people with her at one time but they must be touching her at all times. Utilises telepathy to see ahead.
7) Shadower/Phaser – along with healing factor, flame, and electricity, this was one of the first powers that manifested in her shortly after her first contact with natural lightning. Unlike Kitty she cannot ‘walk on air’ but she can walk through solid objects, taking up to three people with her, as well as meld into these objects (looking like it in colour momentarily when she first steps out), which develops later. Can breathe while doing so for up to one hour.
8) Metamorph – Canine, Feline, and Bird Of Prey only – because of this Ramana can communicate with these animals even before the ability to morph manifested itself. She can see into the infrared and ultra violet spectrum. Can also see through solid objects (side eye power formed along with others). Was able to access these eye powers, including the ability to change eyes catlike, long before being able to morph.
