Houses of Healing Timeframe

I cant recall from my reading, how long did the armies adjourn to the Houses of Healing before they marched to the black gate? wasnt it a period of a couple of days?

I'm not sure either, but I remembered it being a while before they marched to the Black Gate, and then a few more days for them to actually get there. I need to read the book again so I can get everything straight.
