Lila suddenly heard Thay's words in her head. She turned to Lindar. "We have to go back to the palace." She swam as quick as she could, but she knew it wasn't fast enough. She hung on to Lindar's hand, pulling him along through the water gently. She approached the palace and stopped. She saw the destruction and bodies all over. "Oh no." She said quietly. She swam to find Ewan, hoping he wasn't among the dead.
Lila saw the sword shinning and went down for a closer look. She saw it was Ewan. "Oh no!" She swam down to him, wrapping her arms around him. "Ewan." Tears filled her eyes. "Ewan, please wake up." When she saw he didn't move she lowered her face to his chest and cried. "I'm sorry I left. I'm so sorry."
Lila hugged him. "Thank God." She released him from the hug and tried to pick him up. "Hang on Ewan, I'm going to get you out of here." She tried to pick him up again, but he was too heavy. She tried again, straining ever muscle in her body, she was able to get him up a couple of inches, but she was too weak and he fell back onto the coral. A piece of it scraped her arm, releasing blood.

In Lindar's house his father slapped his daughter across the face and she was knocked to the sand. She screamed out in pain.
