bottom line for me, the game was good, not something that shows its been in development since 2000 though, the cut-scenes wigged out every now and then, the game was short (in the first one, at least you got to do that kick ass warthog run at the end)
the best part of halo2 for me was fihgting on earth, it was good to see all the buildings and stuff while killing covenant, and bringing down that huge insect thing was pretty fun, but before you know it youre back in the same place you were in the first halo, running through the same exact maps, and wayyyyy too repetitive (like the last one), gameinformer gave it a 10 and is game of the month along with san andreas, personally i think san andreas was alot better (and longer) than halo2 and had less development time (graphics werent amazing, but graphics dont matter as long as it plays like its supposed to)
for this month (till i start playing mgs3 soon) san andreas was much more exciting than halo2, but thats just my opinion
i think a lot of people always allow themselves to get sucked into the hype brought up by games.
I think this game was great. And aside from the short ending, i can't think of anything to improve this game.
there are more vehicles, a sh!t load more bad guys, HUGE levels, intelligent AI, and i think the idea to play as the Arbitar was awesome.
i think the game is good, not great, the hype never really got to me, but some halo maps are similar to the halo maps in the first part which should've made development a little easier, i loved the start when we finally got to see buildings and fight in a city environment.....the only vehicle they added was the covenant version of the warthog, being able to jump onto enemy vehicles and kick the drivers off was cool, but something i didnt get to do all the time, dual wielding was sweet, but i never bothered doing it too much because im a huge grenade-user
i just thought longer time in the city wouldve been great, especially when you have to go in the buildings, that wouldve been great going into a building with no electricity and taking out invisible elites, maybe something similar to the warthog run at the end of the first game wouldve been cool, they could've at least gave a satisfying ending, i mean it reaches the height of complete chaos and then its the end, i thought we were gonna play at least a little of the most chaotic part with master chief, but it makes me look forward to the 3rd part
anyway multiplayer is my main focus on this game
it being game of the month alot with san andreas on GameInformer is pretty dumb though, both games got a 10, which i dont really care for, but when it came up to reviews they mentioned all the good parts of the game and left out the small problems, yet games that people are skeptic about have all this bad criticism and barely any good

I can think of stuff they couldve added or improved
Added :
New weapons ( im not talking about OMG a sniper rifle made by aliens!! im talking about something with characteristics we wouldnt guess how to use)
More vehicles (wow.. humans got no new vehicles... aliens got maybe 2 new ones exclusing the banshee ability that comes with halo2)
Levels (multiplayer) arent as huge as they could be, but I will give credit to the level layout, its very nice.
AI wasnt that intelligent.. they are basically grenade food. Only thing that showed minor intelligence was flood.. and even if you brought up legendary mode thats not what AI is.. AI is teaching the computer to act humanistic or Less than perfect on purpose. Legendary they basically dont miss a sniper shot so thats not AI.
yes the arbiter is very awesome.. in fact I believe he has way more coolness than the chief in many ways.... for one he doesnt bust out with stupid one liners aimed at the camera.. 🙄
Improved :
the 'stun' ability of the alien weapons is gone... which makes the alien weapons worthless (besides beam rifle and cov. carbine)
where is that whole "vehicular damage affects steering" ? I sure as hell dont feel it..
Melee taking 3 or 4 hits to kill? stupid... he can flip a tank but he cant knock out a fool in 2 hits? sad... needs at least a slight damage tweak
Some of the dialogue needed help.. I felt like I was watching a halo1 ripoff the first 30 minutes of the game, but it made up for it from the middle onward
------------
other than these I liked the game.. and to note.. this was a personal rant.. you dont have to agree or disagree with me, its just how I feel heh.
