Yes Eowyn did defend Middle Earth, but she had little hope for her people before Aragorn came.
Arwen always had hope, she trusted in Aragorn.
Sure Eowyn trusted in Aragorn too but only after he had proven he could be of great help.

Without Arwen, Aragorn probably wouldn't be alive.

Nope. Nowhere did Tolkien mentioned when she died or what age. 🙁 Even in HoME. But we're all sure that she died before Faramir since he has a long life, and can we know how could Faramir live without Eowyn by his side? Can anyone say angst? 😉
