Ghost Ship

I just watched this on dvd today. My friends was going on about it for ages so it was a little over hyped for me but it was pretty gory, which is always good 😉

loved the begining!

what did ya think? and of all the dark castle (is that the name?) movies , house on haunted hill, 13 ghosts....

they all have the exact same feel to em' wich i s a little annoying.

Dark Castle productions (the company behind Ghost Ship, House on the Haunted Hill & Thirteen Ghosts) derives from 50's director William Castle (hence the name Dark Castle Productions) With the exception of Ghost Ship, House on the Haunted Hill & Thirteen Ghosts are remakes of William Castle Films. Having seen the originals of both Thirteen Ghosts and House on the Haunted Hill both are similar to each other just as their remake counterparts are too one another also. On a more personal note although i did enjoy Ghost Ship i did not find it as satisfying as House on the Haunted Hill or indeed Thirteen Ghosts.

i liked this film a lot, i did however watch it late at night, in the dark and sleep deprived, so it pretty much scared the beejesus out of me, not in general, just all the jumpy bits. LOVED the beginning when they all got wired, v funny/sick/whatever. I tend to not listen to hype if at all possible, am always disappointed!

I saw this in theatres, and it too 'scared the bejeesus' out of me. The beginning was the best part, I loved Gabriel Byrnes's acting

William Castle was THE man! So glad to see some of you remember this master of the Hollywood gimmick! Him and his 'Punishment Meter' in such films as "Mr. Sardonicus" and "The Night Walker." The film "matinee" is a loose tribute to him. 😎 Good eye, Wicker Man!

Anyhow, 'Ghost Ship" was pretty good, and no doubt the opening showed people their 'other halves' LOL

While the haunted ship deal isn't new, there were also a few good haunted ship films in the 70's and 80's, one of them being 'Ghost Galleon,' the third entry in Amando De Ossorio's "Tombs Of The Blind Dead" series. dated FX and some cheesiness, but the interior sets of the ship were really good.

i thought that while it was a good movie, it broke into no new areas to look at. i cant remember who said it but someone was saying how this movie is practicly in all regards to Event Horison. MuDvAyNe was cool music for it too

Yes i liked the suequence were it showed you what happend with the little girl showing the woman. Quite horrific and the music wernt well with it.

I liked the flashback where it's shown what happened to the ppl on the Antonia Graza after the wire thing

Great movie. Scared the pants of my teacher when we saw it in our media studies lesson.

To pick a mudvayne song, they should have used DIG....Its a lot more violent and unrelenting...although not a big mudvayne fan...I want to see a horror flick with a pure deat metal grindcore score/soundtrack.....The music was my fave part about resident evil....I really dig industrial but we need more Death metal in horror....the two should go hand in hand!

Death Metal is kinda cliched for horror films, I prefer orchestra type music. Or the music like in Cannibal Holocaust or Henry - Portrait of a Serial killer.

How is it cliched? I have never seen any movie with a brutal death metal score or soundtrack. If i am missing something someone please let me know. BTW Cannibal holocaust's music was great...i love the little synth sound they throw in every couple minutes...its kinda like a chipmunks bass drop.

Death Metal or Regular Metal is in many modern crappy horror films, because it is simply the most obvious choice of music for that genre of film. However, I can't remember a specific film that uses Death Metal, I know I've seen several.

Ghost Ship was okay to watch once.........unfortunately I watched it twice. The opening sequence is great.......one of the best opening sequences to a horror film I've ever seen. Too bad it was all down hill from there. This movie is definetly not one of those "must own" dvds.

On a personal note........am I the only person who watched this and was like, "oh, how cute. Carol and Shep are back together again".............for those of you who don't watch E.R. and didn't get that reference, you should watch E.R. It was a damn fine show for the first several years.

The Goblin soundtrack that accompanied the original Dawn of the Dead is a classic, the music is so distinctive in a cult sort of way. With the exception of one or two renditions, i have to agree with Backfire and say orchestral tracks add more tension to a movie.
