I dont think it is necessarily the veil we ought to be focusing on really guys. I think it is more the Mirror. As JK said, the mirror would not have helped as much as we'd think in OOTP, but it will help more than we think in the next books xx

I think Sirius deserved to die in OOTP. I mean, we all know that he is reckless and known to act rashly. He had been like that throughout his life. When he tracked Wormtail down after the killing of the Potters, why didn't he tell Wormtail's betrayal to Lupin, for instance? Or made it known to believable man, like Dumbledore? He just went tracking down Wormtail all alone, not even planning for the worst. He also made himself vulnerable to childish taunts from Snape. It's just the same when he's fighting the Bellatrix woman, before slipping through the veil. It's not that I don't like him, it's just that he's sooooo reckless...... 🙁 🙁

Yes he is reckless I am not Harry but he DID NOT deserve to die!!

The only person who deserves to die is Voldemort and the Death Eaters!

But he made himself vulnerable to die....... Costs him 12 years of his life in Azkaban, and then his WHOLE life.
Something of a lesson for us.

alright here's my take on it. i don't think that he is going to come back. but what i do think is this, he might come back in a portrait somewhere. when jkr described mrs. black in ootp, remember how lifelike she was? she also could talk, do we know for certain if she was actually painted or if there was some other spell that after she died there would be a portrait of her so she could boss everyone else around, there may be some kind of spell for sirius too. somethinkg else is the mirrors. if this was said before i'm sorry. on her web site jkr said that the mirrors by the time the books end, they wil be explained fully. this death was out of character for sirius, and the treatment of the mirrors was out of character for harry, so maybe because of this parallel behavior, there could be some good connection... i don't know though, i still haven't excepted the death of my favorite character, but i have to.
