Minas Tirith population and army
How large population wise was Minas Trith? How large was the army at Minas Tirith at Battle of the Pelennor Fields? The book states that from the southern fiefs that less then 3000 reinforcments come, about one in then of the avalible men. But how large was the army already in the city? Was Gondor the leading power in the west or was Rohan stronger?
They were probably about 11.250 men fighting for Gondor - about 2.000 from Minas Tirith, 1.000 from the southern parts, 6.000 Rohirrim and the rest from Western Gondor - 1.2000 from Dol Amroth, the rest scattered (Lossarnach, Morthond, Ringló-vale, Anfalas, Ethir Anduin, Lamedon, Pinnath Gelin)
I dunno how many inhabitants it had, but only half of the city was really populated, that changed after the War of the Ring.
