Advice to Writer's

Started by Vim2 pages

I just sent my stuff directly to the publisher, and the contract's pretty stiff, they own the rights for the next 7 years, which isn't that bad, i suppose. I get royalties off so many books sold, so that's how i get paid for writing the thing! But I didn't worry with an agent, and my books coming july fifth (another shameless plug, will the madness ever end! LOL!)

Thanks Phoe & everyone else for advice!!! Here's a bit from me. 🙂

I think my advice is to build your own characters...unique ones (such as Tolkien did with Hobbits, and all the millions of different characters JK had in her book, also if you've read the Sword of Truth Series....he had many unique characters... that had powers I hadn't heard of before. )

Keep motivated, write as often as you can. If something comes to you in the middle of the day jot a bit of it down, enough for you to remember it later.

Writing at night helps me, most of my ideas come late when my mind is winding down and not so focused on day-to-day things.

I get plenty of ideas.

The problem is writing them, I have trouble with making up sentences like "A glop of jam streamed from his dounut and splattered his pants."

What if you write down how you think them, and then change the sentences later as you proofread.............?

My advice is to write down every idea you have, whether its good or bad - you don't want to forget anything, it might turn ut to be a gem!

Oh, I've had that same problem. My best advice would be to first get everything down on paper. Can't have a masterpiece until you first have all of your ideas on the piece of papers. THEN go and edit. You'll find that the DELETE key will soon become your best friend.

I have TONS of writing books. If you ever need anything, I'll be happy to help!

spot on.... as someone once said to me... only a commisioning editor can tell you if it was a good idea...

Test...1: list ten of Bill Gates's bad business ideas..
2: What makes you think they were bad ideas....

That is long advice but I will be sure to use it!jm

Ooh great advice peoples! Really insightful and eenteresting. 😖mart:
