Where Are The Orcs From?

Who created the orcs in the first place ? i was just reading a book and they claimed that the orcs were made by saruman but i thought that orcs were around before i thought they were made by sauron please help!

Orcs were once Elves that were taken by evil and tortured and they become elves.....and they start the productive system and....well...yeah...

By Saruman? That's nonsense. He didn't even create the Uruk-hai as shown in the film... well... however,
Tolkien himself gives several different explanations about the orcs.
The best-documented one (also in the Silmarillion) says that in the beginning when the first elves awoke, Melkor (the evil guy 😉 ) found them first and caught some of them; he tormented and imprisioned them and they began to learn to hate... and the hatred on everything that lives grew and grew until their lifes were filled just with the wish to destroy - the orcs.

Other theories say that they're perhaps Men who betrayed the elves (this idea came up when Tolkien thought that Men actually were Elves who had turned against the Valar (good gods)), or were just made of stone or earth (like some thing about the origin of the dwarves). But this has to be untrue as Valar aren't able to create life by themselves, only Ilúvatar has this power.
