Okay, my top ten Harrison films.
At number ten: Working Girl
Harrison Ford plays Jack Trainer, a businessman who is approached by Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith) who wants to set up a business deal with his help. Little does he know that Tess is only a Secretary, and little does she know that he is dating her Boss, Katherine Parker (Sigourney Weaver) a workaholic ***** who was trying to steal Tess' idea before ending up with a broken leg.
At Number Eight: Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom
Harrison Ford plays Dr. Indiana Jones. This film was a prequel to Raiders Of The Lost Ark and followed Indy, Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) on their adventures as they search for the stolen sacred stones from a Village in India.
At Number Seven: Witness
Harrison Ford plays John Book, a big city Cop put in charge of a case in which a young Amish boy (Lukas Haas) witnesses the murder of a policeman. Book puts the young boy and his mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis) into protective custody, but when young Samuel identifies the murderer as James McFee (Danny Glover), a respected cop and co-worker of Book's, Book runs away, taking Samuel and his mother back to the Amish Community where he hopes they will be safe.
This is possibly the most highly acclaimed of Harrison's performances
At Number Six: Air Force One
Harrison Ford finally gets the role of the U.S President! James Marshall and his family are heading back to the States aboard the Presidential Plane, Air Force One when Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) successfully hijacks the plane and takes President Marshall's wife Grace (Wendy Crewson); daughter Alice and staff hostage. Believing that the President has evacuated the plave via an escape pod, Korshunov makes a deal with the Vice President, Kathryn Bennett (Glenn Close). Either the US arranges the release of his leader, General Radek, or he will eliminate a hostage every half an hour until Radek is released.
However, President Marshall is still hiding in the plane, and the ex-soldier has no intention of leaving without first rescuing his family and then stopping the terrorists.
At Number Five: The Fugitive
Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Kimble, a respected Surgeon sentenced to death for the murder of his beloved wife Helen (Sela Ward). Nobody would believe his story of coming home and fighting a one-armed man who had attacked Helen.
On his way to DeathRow, his fellow prisoners attempt to escape, and the secure coach taking them to their fate collides with an oncoming train. Kimble escapes, and tries to find the true killer whilst avoiding capture at the hands of an obsessed FBI Agent (Tommy Lee Jones)
One of the only films when someone else's performance upstages that of Ford's. Tommy Lee Jones is the true star of this film.
At Number Four: Regarding Henry
Harrison Ford plays Henry Turner, a successful lawyer. He has the respect and admiration of all of his work colleagues. His opposition are terrified of him.
Until one night when Henry interrupts a robbery at his local store, and is shot twice. Henry then awakens from his coma; but cannot speak, walk and has no memory of who he is or of his life before the accident.
Henry must begin his life from scratch, and the man who had everything, discovers something more.
At Number Three: Force Ten From Naverone
Harrison Ford plays Lt. Col. Mike Barnsby.
This is supposed to be a sequel to the movie, GUNS OF NAVARONE. In this version the roles of Mallory and Miller, who were played by Gregory Peck and David Niven, are now being played Robert Shaw and Edward Fox. It seems that there was traitor with them at Navarone, whom they thought was executed. But it seems that not only was he not executed, and he was not a traitor but a German spy. Whom intelligence believes made it Yugoslavia and is now with the Partisans. So, Mallory and Miller being the only ones who can positively identify him, are sent along with a unit called Force 10, which is led by Colonel Barnsby, who objects to their presence. It seems that Force 10 has a mission of their own which Mallory and Miller know nothing about. When their plane is shot and most of the team is killed, they mistakenly believe that some of the locals they meet are Partisans but in reality are German Allies, so they are taken prisoner, and have to convince the German commander that they are not spies or else they will be killed.
Force Ten is actually a really cheesy and pretty damned awful film! But I love it! For one thing, our resident God looks more handsome than is humanly possible, and also, it sports the most happy go lucky and entirely inappropriate score at times, which makes it enjoyable for me!
At Number Two: Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back
This was the darkest of the original trilogy, and one of those rare films that sees the bad guys win at the end.
Harrison Ford reprises his role as Han Solo, and gives what he believes to be his best performance ever.
Ok, so Han Solo is Hero 1/2 anyway in my life, but in this film, he demonstrated a high level of charm, wit and feeling. We got to see the softer side of his character. And do I really need to say how much I wanted to be Princess Leia when he pinned her up against the wall in the Millenium Falcon? Give me a scoundrel anyday!
Wow, what a list!! And what an effort, too.
I'm going to cop-out and simply list my top 10. Keep in mind that I haven't seen Blade Runner, Witness, Six Days Seven Nights, Regarding Henry, K-19, Clear and Present Danger, and American Graffitti.
10. Working Girl

8. Star Wars 4
7. Star Wars 5
6. Raiders of the Lost Ark
5. The Fugitive
4. Patriot Games
3. What Lies Beneath
