why cant we use Bitmap images for our sig's?

because bitmaps take up too much space, if you save them as gif or jpgs the pics will still be the same (with a tad less quality that no one really cares about) and a LOT smaller

yes

BMP's have much better quality, and I wish they didn't take up so much space, but if you make your Jpeg just right it looks great.

for example yours and my and everyone elses sig 😄

It's for the 56kers. They'd be here for hours just downloading the signatures if they were bitmaps.
