Allor sat up quickly. "What! Why not?" she asked clearly panicked.

"I don't know, school is bullshit... There's just too much conformity, I can't walk down the hall without being called a 'punker' or something. I guess I don't know what the point is anymore, I know I'm not going to college, so why stay in school another year?"

Allor sighed. "Why do you think you're not going to college? You're really smart, Derek. And independent unlike those other jerks."

"I have no money, I'm failing school, the only thing I'm good enough at to study at college is music, which I probably wouldn't be able to get a job with anyways..."

"All you need is a little help and a little more optimistic out-look on your life." Allor said. She laid back closing her eyes. "And I need to practice what i preach. Derek, you can't leave school I'll go nuts. I can't take all those snobs on my own."

Derek sighed heavily. On the one hand, he didn't want to go back to school, he knew his life was probably going nowhere even if he did. On the other hand, he felt bad about making Allor go by herself.

Allor's eyes glinted. "Maybe I should drop out too." she suggested. She knew Marria would flip out.

Derek shook his head. "Don't let what I'm doing influence you."

"But then. . ." she sighed and gave up. "I just want to drown myself." she whispered.

Derek closed his eyes and groaned. "I don't blame you."

Allor glanced at him and smiled. He didn't know how peaceful he looked laying like that.

"Life's a b!tch, and then you die."

Allor arches an eyebrow. "And worse, you die alone with your memory fading from everyones mind and soon there will be nothing left of you." She says rather cryptically as she turns on her side.

Derek nodded. "Life sucks."

Allor sighed. "Is there anything you value in your life, Derek?" she asked.

((wtf? I thought I posted something in here before I left...))

Derek paused, thinking. "Not much," he said, rubbing his forehead.

"Oh." allor said looking down at her feet. "So None of your friends mean anything?" she asks carefully not wanting to anger him.

Derek immediately felt stupid. "Well... Maybe one of them," he said with a crooked grin.

Allor laughed and hugged him. "See, I made you grin, sortta."

Derek laughed. He knew it wouldn't last long, but life suddenly didn't seem quite so bad.
