The Simpsons simply is unbeatable for writing. South Park is hilarious for it's crudity and the fact that the writers simply go after any issue with everything they have. Futurama is great, but has some dud episodes while Family Guy has it's moments but suffers from too many "Remember when..." scenes.
Family guy - possibly the worst writing I've ever had to endure.
Futurama - I do like it, although it can become awfully bland, when watching a number of episodes one after the other.
The Simpsons - Fantastic writing, great satire and fantastically memorable characters.
Now, my favourite is South Park, the reason it is is because of the passion that goes into making it. Unlike the others, (perhaps with the exception of Family Guy, I don't really care), it isn't written by a massive team of people over a period of eight months. Nearly all South Park episodes are written within a week, most within less; this allows for some truly brilliant comedy regarding current affairs, plus is an extraordinarily mean feat, especially as most episodes are written by Parker and Stone alone.
There's also the fact pretty much all the voices are done by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators and writers of the show.
I believe South Park is deserving of this title, for one fact alone though; Parker and Stone's absolute determination that comedy should have no boundaries: ''Either it's all funny, or none of it is''. That to me is where South Park truly makes itself brilliant.
i prefer futurama to the simpsons, after youve seen every epi at least 3 times i gets a bit lame. i really like both family guy and south park, try to catch it as often as poss. my ex got me into family guy as i hadnt really watched it before and now im hooked. i throw a paddy every time i miss it. i used to really hate south park with avengence, but i found it on paramount about 6 months ago and really got into it.
i think that if you watch somethin often enough, especially if you just happen to catch the same eps again and again, it can get a bit irritating and you can get fed up with it.
