1) most of them are represented like the characters in the comic book except starfire. She is not ditsy in the comic. She is a strong female character.
2) No not really since it was coming to t.v and things change when you put it on a bigger scale.

I've seen maybe an episode or two when my little brother was watching it. Can't stand the theme song, I have to get out of the room before I break something in a fit of rage. It's not a bad show, but I don't really have much interest in it. I'm probably not the first person to ask this, but... why is this thread in the anime/manga section? It's not anime... at all... 🤨

the reason its in the anime/mange section cause i think the creator thought it was anime just because its an american show drawn in a japanese style. Its confusing to me why they did that and the theme song robably threw him off too. Of course it depends if he heard the japanese theme song

Well, apparently, he was wise in doing it that way. Because it has legions of fans.
