Before Hogwarts?... wizard's middle/elementary school?

Hermoine and Harry was in muggle school before they ever went to Hogwarts. JKR mentioned the public school that Harry went to when he still didnt' know that he was a wizard (read the books), but I think she never mentioned Hermoine's old school (?)...

Anyways, for the pure wizards and witches who don't know anything about muggle/normal stuff (for example; Weasleys, Malfoys), what school did the pure wizard kids go to before they ever turned 11??? I'm sure NOT in a muggle school, because judging by how the Weasleys act on cars and "rubber ducks" and such things, they don't know much about muggle things. So, is there like a magical middle school or elementary before Hogwarts? Hehe... Didn't you guys ever wonder?

well maybe.......but I think they just stayed home and maybe there parents taught them what they need to know, because technicaly as children they are not allowed to do magic unless they graduate form a magic school (i.e. hogwarts).

I see what you mean and I've wondered that myself. I'm sure not all wizarding families had someone at home that could teach their kids...so where DID they get their preliminary education i.e. basic math, reading, intro to latin? lol

there probably was nothing of elementry or middle it was like waitng to start kindergarten but you would be starting Hogwarts for your first year

No. That can't be, harrypfan. I mean, like what myredmirage95 said, where did they learn the basics? As I pointed out, they couldn't have gone to a muggle school judging by how the Weasleys act. How did the pure-blood kids learn to read and write? To add and stuff? LOL.. I mean, just because you're a witch or a wizard does NOT mean you're born a genius. LOL... So, what do you guys reckon?

I just hope JKR clear this up in the next book. Heh. Even if it isn't really that necessary to the plot. It's still a wonder.

i think that they were taught by their parents as well...

yeah, i think she says somewhere that there's no school before Hogwarts
i agree with the parents thing, i mean they just learn the basics at Hogwarts

^^ but that's true as well, so if that's the case, then i think JK was the one who didn't think out the part on their education all that well 😛

hey i actually wnder a lot about math, coz even tho wizards dont have commmon classes math is inportant, even in the wizard world!!

Hmmm........

and learnig how to write etc, and their parents have jobs don't they, so they wouldn't have time to teach their children everything.... i always thought this was a weird thing in the books...

Hmmm maybe it will come up in 1 of the other book........Maybe squibs teach them all that stuff since they can't use magic

well, they can't have gone to a school cuz Goyle can't read 😄

pure bloods didn't have any school before Hogwarts.. I can't remember-- this is mentioned somewhere, isn't it..

They learn the basics at home.. some, like half-bloods, go to muggle schools before Hogwarts, but not all of them..

actually like the united states many ppl do homeschooling perhaps is tyhe same in the wizarding world, but uhmm i dunno is weird!

I think they were just home schooled. Parents hope for their kids to get the magical gift. Neville barely got into Hogwarts b/c he was a "late bloomer"

You have to stop coming at this from an American angle. Hogwarts is based on the British Public School system (for those of you who do not know, a Public School in the UK is a privately owned one you have to pay or get a scholarship for and often board at, as opposed to a State School, which is a standard one open to all people), so following that logic there would be no 'middle' or 'elementary' school beforehand even if Hogwarts students did have education before that point. The term you are looking for is a 'Prep' school, which is where Public School boys have often gone before they start their later education.

i always thought they were home schooled

Ooookaaaay. Prep school it is then. Same difference. The point is that Hogwarts pureblood students still should've gone to a school before Hogwarts.

Anyways, about what Tassie said that there wasn't any school before Hogwarts, I completely agree. I, for one, also have read that "interview" about JKR mentioning this not so long ago. I've forgotten where I read it from.

actuly I think that they arn't home schooled the ether go to regular (muggle schoole) till they get the letter, pure bloods probily go to a non magic wizerd school

If anyone finds that interview could u post it please? thanks 😄
