Too many to name them all 😄 actually each and every sentence in LoTR or any other work by Tolkien can be counted among my favourite quotes...
Some I like are for example
the words in my signature
the adûnaic lyrics of the ringwraith song
and faramir's words about the dead southron in the TT:EE.......
"The enemy? His sense of duty is no less than yours, I deem.
I wonder what his name is, where he came from, and if he was really evil at heart, or what lies or threats led him on this long march from home, and if he would not rather have stayed there... in peace."
others:
"War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend."
(Faramir)
"Hail Gurthang! No lord or loyalty dost thou know, save the hand that wieldeth thee. From no blood wilt thou shrink. Wilt thou drink my blood? Wilt thou slay me swiftly?"
(Turin Turambar)
"GREAT IS THE FALL OF GONDOLIN"
"By the command of Morgoth the Orcs with great labour gathered the bodies of all those who had fallen in the great battle, and all their harness and weapons, and piled them in a great mound in the midst of Anfauglith; and it was like a hill that could be seen from afar. Haudh-en-Ndengin, the Elves named it, the Hill of the Slain, and Haudh-en-Nirnaeth, the Hill of Tears. But grass came there and grew again long and green upon that hill, alone in all the desert that Morgoth made; and no creature of Morgoth trod thereafter upon the earth beneath which the swords of the Eldar and the Edain crumbled into rust."
"At last Fingon stood alone with his guard dead about him; and he fought with Gothmog, until another Balrog came behind and cast a thong of fire about him. Then Gothmog hewed him with his black axe, and a white flame sprang up from the helm of Fingon as it was cloven. Thus fell the High King of the Noldor; and they beat him into the dust with their maces; and his banner, blue and silver, they trod into the mire of his blood."
Sam: "Sneakin' off, are we?"
Gollum: "S-sneaking? Sneaking!? Fat hobbit is always so polite. Sméagol shows them secret ways that nobody else could find, and they say sneak! Sneak!!! Very nice friend, oh yes, my precious, very nice friend!
Sam: "All right! All right! You just startled me, that's all..... What were you doing?"
Gollum: "...Sneaking."
yoou mean this?
"It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here, but we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing. This shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines it’ll shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now, folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding onto something.
-What are we holding onto, Sam?
-That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.
Oh my goodness, you're expecting all of us to chose?
Hmmm let's start....
All my quotes from LotR ranging from movies to books.
"War will make corpses of us all..." -Faramir, TTT: EE
"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart, you begin to understand, there is no going back?" There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep...that have taken hold." -Frodo, RotK
"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil." -Gandalf, RotK
"The board is set. The pieces are moving." -Gandalf, RotK

"Ai! Ai! A Balrog! A balrog is come!" -Legolas, FotR
All that is gold does not glitter;
Those who wander are not lost.
The old that is strong does not wither;
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes of fire shall be woken;
A light from shall spring.
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken;
The crownless again shall be king.
"SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH." -Random Nazgul, any movie. 🙂
