Murderers that kill for a specific purpose to make them feel complete are interesting. Say maybe a middle class young man who is going out on a nightly rapage killing the homeless in an effort to end homelessness? This may seem brutal by societies terms but He really feels like he is serving a purpose.

-Personal Rant-
May possibly be a waste of your time to read. You have been warned.
Imagine going into the store you go to every morning for coffee and cigarettes and not being hassled for change or cigarettes by the scavenging alcoholics. Total dream come true.
I work night shift in a convenience store. Every night when I get to work at 11 pm thereare several people, all races and ages hanging out in the parking lot begging my customers for various things, money, rides, drugs. When they get enough change they come in and buy beer. Many of them cannot count, which is very sad. Due to the unnaturally cold weather in my part of the world the last few weeks, many of them have migrated inside the store leaving me to seem like an ******* when I call the cops to have them removed. So the cops show and send them off and after an hour or so, they slowly migrate back into the store. My main customer base in the wee hours of the morning are hard working blue collar americans working midnight factory shifts to support their families or paying their way through one of the local schools, like myself, and do not have the extra money to toss to scavengers. This may sound harsh but if a fanatical man with a mission to end poverty and homelessness came into the parking lot of my store and opened fire on the large group of destitute wretches as they approached him with their sob stories about no food for days and being cold, I would allow him plenty of time to leave before calling the proper authorities to remove the bodies that were blocking the gas pumps.
Having just ranted, I feel relieved. Unfortunately I will experience this in approx 1.5 hours . The hassling bums, not the homicidal "angel of mercy". In writing this little rant I feel I have inspired my self to another writing project about one of these angel of mercy killers, but not one who society fears but one who average americans protect and support for his services. I enjoy collaborating and do try to publish my stories and sell my screenplays. If anyone is interested in collaborating on a writing project with the nasty butler contact me at [email protected]
I may have a few rewards for anyone interested. Unfortunately those rewards are not sexual. Sorry.
In closing use the following email address to send me hatemail for wasting your time, or send me a little note to show your nterested in writing graphic horror.
I do like the idea of a killer with a purpose...but doesn't that also give us a sense of security ? Michael Myers hunted those that were related to him, Freddy Krueger hunted the children of the parents that burned him.
I think the best killer would be one that did not have a motive. One that simply enjoyed the act of killing for the thrill of it. No one would be safe, neither Men or Women and of any age. That way, when we left the theatre, we wouldn't have that sense of security...and would always wonder what if he is after me ?
House of 1000 corpses and Texas Chainsaw Massacre had this plot...they killed for the pure enjoyment of it. Though, take this to the next level...that is what I hope for.
Possibly my ideas might be critizied, but I just feel that we have allowed Hollywood to add too much regularity and glamour to the horror film genre
if you guys want a guy who has a goal but you guys seem to forget Freddy: get revenge on the descendents of the parents who burned him
Jason: punish who ever went back to camp crystal lake
pinhead:lapdog of satan and its his job to torture and kill people
michael: for some strange reason wants to kill his family
so they do have goals but jason and pinhead dont really have goals it just what they do
No, i think Nastybutlerbob was getting at a killer with a purpose as in they kill for a greater goal, like cleaning up the homeless or something like that, the killer is doing something that everyone basically wants/will benefit from (even if in the back of their mind), but to do so he has to kill, so he is doing a good thing in a weird sort of way but not at the same time.
All the ones you have listed refer to revenge. (except Pinhead, he is simply an employee and Micheal who has some curse/is a psycho)
When you think about it, almost all killers in horror movies kill because of revenge, are some sort of monster that needs human flesh/blood or are out of their mind.
A killer with a purpose would not have any of these, it would be a determined killer fighting for a cause kind of.
.....i dunno *shrugs*
Sorry for the huge amount of babble.
