Power Liftin Comp

There is a Powerlifting Competetion this weekend. Its sucks though that my school wasnt invited because we dont have a head coach for football. But hopefully I can go like as a individual and like not have the whole football team there because i added up all my weights and if the comp is like i think it is which is Deads Squats and bench then my added weights are just over 1000 pounds by ten pounds so it would have been cool to compete in it this weekend hopefully i can

Well gl if you go. I wouldn't have to dicipline to lift...I can't even go run for a couple miles every night. No way could I lift for 2 hours.

😑

Thank you. But this isnt lifting for Two hours. This is Three core lifts. Dead Lifts Bench Press and Squats You do all three lifts for one rep which is called a Max. And all your weight together from the three lifts has to = to or over 1000 pounds

Yeah, I know but you had to train for it...You said you lift for 2 hours a day...(My dad did placed second in a weight lifting competition in HS, he weighed 145 lbs...Amazing to me that he could even come close to competing with the bigger guys...)

If he was in the 1000 club at 145 pounds ur dad is crazy strong

I don't know for sure if he was or not...I do know, however that he only missed first by like 15 pounds...

Now he's getting a little hefty but still solid, he's a construction worker. He's INSANELY strong now(190's now). For instance, he can literally throw me backwards if I'm running at him with one arm. He's been doing his job for almost 30 years so...I can understand why he's so friggin solid. He kinda scares me, if I walk up to him and just grab him without him expecting it, he still feels like a brick wall...I cower in the presence of my father...

I cower in the presence of my father's nerdiness.. He's a big guy and all that he used to be a carpenter when he lived in San Francisco but now he's a network administrator at a community college.

My dad and I are pretty much classic opposites. He played sandlot football a LOT, was an excellent pitcher/batter, and was overall active. (Did the weight lifting thing too...) Now he shoots trap, plays pool, etc. Recreational stuff...

I golf, play hockey, never have lifted...and about the only similarities are that I played baseball and was a good batter but I played third base...

We both can be away from something for a LONG time and come back and do it again like we never left...

Sorry to hijack your thread, D 🙁

My dad and I are a lot alike.. We both are obsessed with history, science fiction, and computers. We both like baseball, but not football, basketball, or any other team sports. We both are nerds, basically, but we do stay in shape. (none o' that crazy weight stuff though...)

oh and science and math we both like those

Hey D, how much do pushups actually benefit your upper body strength? Do you know? I've always wondered this...

I think they're pretty good, but not sufficient for body builder types (duh) I do 20 pushups every night since I can't go work out every day
