can anyone defeat this dude?

He destroyed Morgoth without doing much, plus he is "strong", why did the Valar summin him to get rid of the evil...was he out for rent or on a special offer?

it's just that tulkas NEVER gets any credit around here, and I was overjoyed when someone besides me started a thread about him...😄

He didn't really necessarily "destroyed" Morgoth per se. Melkor is just afraid of him because he's strong physically and war-like (and always laughing his ass off). If you'll even think about it, Melkor is still much stronger than Tulkas power-wise. Melkor was originally meant to be one of the Aratar (the mightiest and highest of the Ainur), but he was just removed because of his doings. Tulkas on the other hand is just a "regular" Vala.

In all fairness, I also like him. But I love Morgoth more. 😉

lol, although I did know Tulkas didnt even touch Melkor but did infact was pretty much there as a prop to scare him. But oh yes I prefer Tulkas to Morgoth/Sauron - any "baddie"

We're being informed that Tulkas is battling against Melkor before. I'm not sure though if it's a physical (or power) fight or just the fact that they don't like each other. Nevertheless, we are aware that Melkor is afraid of him though we don't know who wins. I'm not sure though if Tulkas and Melkor had a one-on-one battle in the Battle of Powers (though it's highly possible). It wasn't really vividly described in the book, the book just described the battle in the Elves' point of view in Cuivienen, that is, the earth shook, the waters moved and there were many fires. We really didn't had any descriptions of the actual battle though it would have been really cool. 😱 😄
