John Rhys-Davies[ Gimli] a 'racist'

Started by feanor4 pages

In light of where this conversation seems to be heading and that I've somewhat came into the middle of it, not one person here who has said they are not racist is in someways still...I for one have been guilty of it. Let the migrants work the fields while I would prefer the cushy job somewheres else. But that is the way of things. Too many allowed does tax the system, too little then there's a problem in areas where most people would rather work in. i.e. maid service, dishwasher, carwasher, janitors, and so on. Somehow and I'm guessing, there should be at least a middle ground to where all parts of the party which is not of the whole but at the least of which is beyond the completion of the half...uh? lost track

and erm..im not racist if thats what you tried to imply feanor....i just dont like how everyone is getting into the country....not stopped at all......they should at kleast be properly checked for background info and stuff with the increase in suicide bombing in iraq...and then the two recent attempted attacks on england....

the thing is if tony goes...we have howard....hes worse...and if he goes we are run byt *gulp* lib dems

No, weren't you going to rule after that? 😛 Err...I'll just stay out of this, because many people want to slap me for my anti-Bush ramblings, and I don't know anything about British politics...

his cooments aren't as bad as some ppl r making out, I'm not agreeing with him, but has anybody thought that maub whats he was saying couldmean something else and not a rcist remark? maybe just a comment on muslim population, thats what it seemed, and he mentioned something tolkien said so maybe he's just showing examples, the media like to mess thing up a bit.

when you where talking about howard the vampire...
to whome were you refering?

Forgive me ol’ chap if I’ve implied otherwise. By definition racism is to prejudge against certain types of people. Be that as it may I find it rather disturbing when the topic of conversation is bent solely on the question of one man’s opinion that has so many here in such an uproar. However and I say this with the utmost care and a deep understanding of the psyche of all people not withstanding though I’m no expert that no matter our good intent we all at one time must therefore suffer that dreaded infliction. We can’t help ourselves whilst we go about our daily lives as we look on others we know nothing about. Is he a Muslim? Then surely he is a terrorist. Is he black? Then he must be lazy or a gangbanger, etc., etc., etc. In short my good man, we inevitably cannot escape who we are: human beings accompanied with all the frailties and shortcomings. And while all our lives we may trend towards all things noble, we will always invariably at some time fail that endeavour. There are after all two moments in our lives that has the most profound impact on everyone: birth and death. It is what we do in between that truly bears remembering. So I ask for leniency as I know nothing of the policies in England and for what I must confess is a somewhat of an ignorance on all things English; political or otherwise. If the chance ever favours us though highly unlikely I should like to sit with you one day for a spot of tea or a pint and talk politics with its many hues and colours.

I think the desire to be tolerant is clouding your critical judgment. Despite what Islam may teach, many muslim societies are extremely repressive and I might add, intolerant of the values you are defending.

this is not a LOTR desicussion so hopefully this thread will be now closed

Absolutely, this discussion has beomf ehighly politicised. Do not digress inbto this kind of talk again, the comments and attacks on certain politics and Bush/Blair comments are absolutely not allowed here.

Closing- do not do this again.
