so im reading that part again (when faramir meets frodo and sam) and i cant find that yet.......
anyway i just read (i didnt remember this) that faramir tells the hobbit that he would have been chosen by denethor and the elders to go to the council, but boromir wanted to go... so he said he was the older and didnt listen to the others.........
so what if faramir was the one to represent minas tirith in the council instead of boromir? it would be a whole different story.......
eureka!!
exactly after that, faramir says he wouldnt take "that Thing" even if its by the road or sth........ he doesnt say "the Ring", although it rhymes, hehehe
i read all the 3 books and the sillmarilion in spanish (im from south america), so i cannot think of another word to transalte it........
faramir refers to the ring (even though he doesnt know for sure what kind of object it is, he just know its an object) as "el daño de isildur" which means isildur's damage, or the Object or just the Thing (yes, in caps... at least in my book 😛)...... he tells frodo he learnt about that old isildur story from gandalf (whenever gandalf wanted to teach him, hehehe) and that gandalf himself reviewed old books and scrolls in minas tirith and found out that isildur's damage was that isildur actually took something really powerfull from saurons hand and that the Objetc was probably made by Sauron himself for a particular reason and etc etc..... so faramir never says the word "ring" perhaps because he isnt aware that the Object is actually a ring of power or the one ring itself....... but he kind of has the idea (remember that faramir is a very very very intelligent man, and knows people and facts)
