French backs headscarf ban

french politicaons want to ban all religous symbols in there schools.

Do you agree that Schools should be seprate form religion?

Some people say in could unify children has they will have no religious constraints.
But most disagree and they said it could cause trouble.

I'm from the US...that's how it's been since i was a wee lil 'un. and IMO that's how it should be everywhere. except sunday school...which should be abolished because schooling on Sunday is mundane and barbaric.

I have just one question about France. Is it true that the main religion is Catholicism? And who vote for this law to happen? The people? The politics?

i think in most europiean counties they leave behind there religion when dealing with polictics.

I don't see the need for this ban. It's silly.

If they were made to wear then, sure that is wrong. But if they choose to wear a garment, I don't see the harm.

The theory, Raz, is that wearing the headscarf is an overt demonstration of religious allegiance, which is from now on to be unwelcome in French schools.

actually, people focus too hard on the scarf-part

crosses and such will be removed too, and people wearing a religious christian symbol need to stop wearing that too

This law seems to have certain Socialism idelism behind it. No crosses, garments and yamakas (sp) in schools? I don't agree with it at all.

we live in a world where we appease the mass in order to not offend the mass which causes the mass to be offended by those who are trying appease the mass...methinks?
