I find sitting 'in' a tree kissing someone rather uncomfortable.

Well, I can't say that I've ever tried it, but it sounds better than on a tree at least.

seems rather precarious. how'd I end up in a tree in the first place?

I remember my first dating experience in the woods....I got thrown off a swing rope and nearly broke my back.
