So what if you look dorky there? At least the pic still looks like you. 😄
Wait, I think we're going too off-topic. I can't post pics anymore so..
I find the whole concept of Middle-earth so tangible that it's like if you look at an atlas long enough of the ancient world, maybe you'll find it.
The world he created is so vivid in description and background that it's like when in high school and you studied about ancient Rome. You read about the battles, the lore of its people.
I find the geography stunning in its scope. The reality of these places from Rivendell to Gondor. If only full sized maps existed to study the topography of these massive lands.
The people as he wrote them are like figures from history. The great Kings of Gondor to the High Elves themselves. You take races like Elves, Dwarves, Men and Hobbits and see them almost as Tolkien had written.
The languages are also very beautiful, especially the Elvish one. The first time I heard it spoke on the screen in FOTR I knew I had to learn more about this tounge. It sounds so musical and real that you can almost imagine people speaking it thousands of years ago. Unfortunately, I suck at languages, so..
So the question was what do I love most about LOTR? Besides everything, I guess it's the reality of it. That it is the rare piece of fiction that few can only be seen today. The kind where a vivid mind can take it and imagine it like another world or place in time and history. I think that's what Tolkien did when he wrote it. He created a piece of history never seen or heard before and I think that was what Peter Jackson saw when he took this great work and put it to film.
