Feh. If no one else will, I'll tell you a little somethin' 'bout ol' Jonathan Crane. Come sit on my knee and take a listen. Don't get scared-- no, wait! Come back here!
Anyway, Jonathan Crane was a lanky lad who had a phobia related to birds (sort of converse to the Penguin) and was teased for being bookish and tall and skinny. The bullies really messed with him, so he grew up vengeful. He got a Ph.D in psychology and became fixated on learning about fear. He became a professor at a university. He studied chemistry as well, and of course he mixed all those things together and created a hallucinogenic fear gas that made your worst fears come alive. He did some unethical experiments on his students at the university and got fired. In retaliation, he literally scared the regents and superintendents to death. He also went after each of the bullies he went to school with and offed them as well. He studied the "crane" style of martial arts and now he wears a suit stuffed with straw and a fright mask and calls himself the Scarecrow. Scary stuff.
Now go to bed, and don't come cryin' to me 'bout no nightmares!
Cillian Murphy plays Dr Johnathan Crane
😄 I am incrediably pleased that Cillian Murphy a new hot Irish import is playing Johnathan Crane. He got the part because of his natural ability to play a bad boy. He is also incredibly talented. He stared in 28 days as Jim the young man who woke up to find London full of zombies.
😕 This is his break out role in the US. Good Luck Cillian! 🙂

The Scarecrow is seriously cool, he's possibly my third favourite villain next to Joker and Two-Face.
He does things concerning fear. I've seen the odd comic where he uses gas to make people see their worst fears and go mad. I've seen him use powder that makes your mind turn everyday situations into terrifying ordeals (you see some ants as giant killer spiders, or crossing a bridge you'll think you are hundreds of feet in the air).
Scarecrow is very much like a cross between The Joker and The Riddler, in that he's a chemical expert that instead of blowing you up, he melts your mind.
Yet another villain that raises Batmans rogues gallery above everyone else.
