Here's a typical York County Pennsylvania Dutch meal in a typical family diner.
Chicken Fried Steak with ravy
Mashed Potatoes with butter and gravy
(or french fries with gravy)
canned peas
coleslaw
shoo fly pie for dessert (thats dough, molasses filling and crumbs on top for you out-of-towners)
Guaranteed fat-free. 😂
That actually sounds good.
My usual dinner ingredients (not all at once mind you): Chicken (BBQed, boiled, or fried), steak (my dad makes mean steak), pork, green beans, peas, salad (ranch dressing, carrots, tomatoes, and the ocasional radish), potatoes (sour cream, green onions, butter, and salt usually do the trick), cooked vegies (carrots, etc.), eggplant (my Grandma's house), BBQed Pork Sandwich (Grandma's), Sloppy Joe, KFC, Macdonald's, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, and a few more I usually don't have.
My usual breakfast: cereals (Lucky Charms, Fruity & Cocoa Pebbles, Blueberry Morning, Cranberry Almond Crunch, Frosted Wheats, Honey-Nut & Regular Cheerios, etc.) pancakes, French toast, and waffles.
My usual dessert: ice cream (vanilla, rocky road, cookies n' cream, mint chip, etc.), cake, and...that's it!
Dinner is to big a subject. Lunch I usually have at school: PB&J, cookies, pizza, juice, school lunches. Most of the school lunches are disgusting. The only ones I like are Mashed Potatoes with Chicken and Gravy, Chicken Nuggets, and Pizza.
