"It seems I really underestimated the extent of Vader`s anger."
Yes, well, I think quite a few people have done that over time!
Very angry man, Vader. Verrrrrrrry angry. And yes, technicalities like 'whose area of responsibility it is' really start to fade out of his mind when he thinks errors have been made.
Having Vader present is absolutely considered a liability for the Imperials; one of the things in their way. Vader will, of course, sort out everything if he feels he has to., Trouble is, he'll just ram straight through the Senatorial issue; take Lanzar illegally and say "I ordered it, now what are you going to do about it?"
This would, of course, be a de facto Rebel victory. Vader is like that- he messed up on Hoth because he just enjoys being a bastard; if he'd kept his deal with Lando he'd have gotten clean away with it, but he had to keep throwing his weight around, until it wasn't worth Lando keeping the deal and so Lando broke it.
Working for the Sith SUCKS, btw. It just does. No two ways about it.
BTW, one other thing about Vader- he's not very interested in long-winded lawyery explanations. He tends to zoom in on the fundamentals; a bit like Alan Sugar from the UK version of the Apprentice, except he kills rather than fires. He thinks most of what people says is rubbish. I really must point out that saying things like "I made a mistake" or "This is my fault" tends to make Vader focus on that; he'll care little for excuses to that.
The trick is to completely avoid all possible responsibility. it;s worth learning a trick of having your excuse ready even when you make the decision. BEFORE you make a decision. Even make your decisions based on how much of an excuse - or better, who else you can blame- if it goes wrong. This kind of thing actually ends up at the core of Imperial decision making, and the horrible inefficiency it causes is the flip side of Vader's rule by fear, and a demonstration of the self-destructive nature of the Dark Side.
Well, I thought Commisar could afford not to be that afraid....
But Kuylen didn`t opearate like this, from what I have read it seems that he was harsh but fair.
Vader seems to have certain clumsiness that I think true Dark Masters like Sienar and Sidious can avoid- they understand the value of patience and control their emotions.
I am curious if characters from PT game would ever face similar challenges.
Well, my character was a bit too arrogant in front of Vader.... well, we shouldn`t pity him that much, he is used to terrorizing people himself- but Vader is just a bigger fish.
And I really should learn instead of spending time here, I am already well past my schedule with exams, mostly to the amount of time I spent online. OT game is currently my priority, but I am not able to be as active in Ush`s games as I would like, LOTR for example.
But I have read all past Ush`s Star Wars game threads on this board during this week. I have some questions:
-Do characters that were veterans of second campaign know actually how much information and how many tablets Kuylen obtained from Avalar? It seems that they don`t, and this stuff may become relevant one day. This knowledge was actually the justification for players advancing on par with fully trained Jedi, right?( So perhaps obtaining more Sith secrets in future could simply give bonus experience points to spend on force powers- entire point of Darkside being quicker path to power).
-I am wondering what was the background for Krisha and Jolanta, and if by some miracle Jolanta is still alive( though I doubt she could survive the Bureau, and I don`t see her being Sienar`s right hand....)
I believe that this situation is proof that Imperial officers should carry ion blasters, to short-circuit Vader's suit when he's being mean.
...
As for the tablets, it was our excuse for advancing in skill during gameplay, which was translated to experience points in the second system.
I remember Queeq almost learned lightning from one of them, but then dropped out of the game.
Jolanta was not the brightest bulb on the Dark Side Christmas tree, she probably died on Zeiton.
No aliens, dead or alive, remianed on Zeiton after the first Campaign, is all I can say there. Krisha was a society outcast, basically, but there's not a huge amount of detail there.
The presence of people such as Rand in the Dark Side group provides an alternative excuse for development. Also, that original reason got widened with the revelation of Kuylen's training facilities on Dordellus, specifically tailored towards the Dark Side vibe. The Dark Side simply being easier makes up the rest.
But there's a definite limit to what you can manage now. The lure of what secrets may be on the tablets is great indeed.
Kuylen got quite a lot out, and he seemed to know what he was looking for too. How much he managed to bring with him though- that was something the players remained in ignorance of in Episode V or the first Campaign. It was in fact possible to try and keep track of it (or at least try) but no-one did.
However, the information you have about the Archive has it contained in a not inconsiderable chamber...
Ush, do you still plan on alienating between OT and PT considering how long current one lasts already? I have hopes for long PT game, and longer than a year brake between each episode will kill it, I fear. Which would be a shame, because the storylines become more and more interesting. Serpent plot, end especially those in Revelations were much better than most Star Wars EU. And I would really like to try to play a character as long as Rex did.
Well, if i have time I could play RPG`s for many years....
It is hard to grow emotional attachment to online game, though. So far only Star Wars did it for me, this is why I want to return to it so badly, though POP looks very promising, with the most interesting character concept I have ever played.
