The other forum, then?

Nope...

Okay, now you've got even me curious.

Vagueness!

I am confused. We will not play here? Will we find out when we start?

Don't worry, no one else seems to have a clue either.

Ush apparently went all Spinxy on us.

The only alternatives I can think of are 1) secret Ush message board, 2) instant messenger, or 3) e-mail. Anything else would be 'telepathic mind-game' or 'all expenses paid flight to Britain.'

I'd just need a two hour train ride.

I like the telepathy thing though.

Heh...

I've been reading the old forum gumf in search for random ideas for random things (namely Con's Retrospection game?) and I actually read through my attempts at games prior to Retrospection... and boy were they horrid!

1) REX'S GAME (2002) - Dark Jedi are overthrowing a government on the planet Tutalo and the Jedi are coming to stop them! Oh no! I had no idea what the hell I was doing with this and I'm not sure why anyone even voiced interest! Most interesting things about it- Andy (Alkaselzer) stole the names of his Dark Jedi attackers from his background from here. Vale Dray was Gundark, Fenring was Queeq, and Brith was... well, Brith himself! How fitting that the evil Gamemaster behind our evil Gamemaster became Sienar. Also, Ush played as the masked villain Steerpike. I hardly even remember anything about the Jedi team. The game sort of just died within four pages...

2) WAR ZONE (2002-2003) - Dark Jedi are overthrowing a government on the planet Vyylosk and the Jedi are coming to stop them! Oh no! Seems... familiar. I had a better idea with what I was doing, but not really. Full of bad puns! The Dark Jedi leader had a robot named RPG and there was a clumsy character named Rek Les. Oof. This was the last time Ush tried playing my RPGs (as Arleth- after this, I'm sure you had reason to fear my GMing skills, they were terrible!) and Josh actually joined in this one before playing Ush's, I think! As Dak Kaliero, too. I did like the collection of players, though. It sort of just tapered off, but it got 24 pages out of the Darkies and only Ush really played the Jedi side actively.

3) IN THE DARK (2004) - Dark Jedi only! A group of Dark Jedi are assembled by a Dark Master to break someone out of a high-security prison facility for... some reason I forget, I think the prisoner had something that the Dark Master wanted. This game actually got through one full episode and moved into a second before dying. Stefan, Josh, and even Tom played this one! Stefan was Kydor, the Orphan-equivalent. Josh played Khantari Thon, ANOTHER Arnian (you lizard-obsessed freak). Tom played Dalton Aoult... basically Tanic of another name, I think.

So yeah, thought that'd be interesting to share with everyone. They were ATROCIOUS games and I'm glad the Retrospection episodes have not turned out so poorly as they...

Most of the people who played the first two were regulars of Ush's RPGs (Gundark, Queeq, Yerssot, etc.), and we had some random appearances of new players who promptly were never heard from again after 'In the Dark.'

Also, another note, most of the game mechanics were... non-existant. I just kind of made it up as I went along. Same with the plot. Yeesh.

Wentar gets a mention in a Retrospection game? Woo! I love the insight into the back story of characters. Look forward to reading Decay.

Wentar could always feature in his own story, you know...

Really? Sounds tempting but I wouldn't want to be too much of a bother. Running six games at once must be hard to manage. Know I'd drown quickly. 😛

You know, I'm actually not having that much trouble running these. I think because it's not me trying to manage a group in one story but instead a bunch of smaller "one player" games.

Meanwhile, so now begins the mystery of Sienar... good ol'd Jedi vs. Dark Side Mastermind Star Wars-y goodness!

Let's see how our heroes do in trying to unravel him.

He's just a little bit creepy.

He's an arrogant show-off.

Arrogance is par for the course for the Dark Side, but I'd wager there are not that many arrogant types who say to the Jedi "Oh, you could probably kill me." Normally it is "Your feeble powers are no match for mine" etc.

That's why he wants me to protect him.
