Actually, Takuan rose his skill with a lightsaber to 14, impaired it's 13.

you get a point of impairment for every 10 damage. so i'm at 12 now..almost 11 *cries*

That's 'bonus' impairment from neuro-damage. Normal impairment comes at 25 and 30 damage, but you get that as well. So Vash right now is Quadruple impaired- two lots from Neuro damage, and another two lots from having taken more than 30 damage in total.

Impairing is what neurowhips do.

Vash and Galder will have to clear a path for you folks for some sort of escape.

Kill your Captain first, Galder and Vash. THEN help us.

This will certainly be the defining sequence. If it goes wrong here it will be hard to avoid casualities. Someone has to carry Tanic and Rand, also. Well, you don't HAVE to, of course...

well...good for me i don't have to make that decison. i'll be re4quiring carrying myself by the next attack i reckon.
and it's not like i could break free from the centre either..

Well, if certain people (like Zink) had actuallly defended at some point we might not be down to only three of us in the center, being attacked by 20 of those damned pigs.

Actually, I am just going to make a small difference in your favour by reducing base neurowhip damage to 13. I'll apply it retroactively. Not enough to bring Tanic or Rand back, I am afraid.

Coming to aid the middle folk.

You are at critical in the sense that one more hit will take you out.

You also got it the wrong way around. Vash, with his lower skill but having multi-attacks, is far more appropriate to have gone to the centre and attacked as many as possible. Against the Captain alone, his multi-attacks are useless and he doesn't have the skill, after impairment, to reasonably hit him.
