Never had a single problem with VLC and I like the options with it better. CPU usage isn't exactly something I ever have to worry about, and the difference is pretty much negligible, since VLC uses hardly any resources as it is.

In windows it uses the proper and updated codecs and subtitle rendering libraries. VLC is catching up though.
