i was just wondering if it is nessesary to read The Hobbit before you start reading the trilogy?

Kinda I say. 😄

It's necessary because there are some references to some of the events from "The Hobbit" in the "Council of Elrond" chapter in FOTR book. You could also have some introduction to Gollum, Bilbo, Gandalf, Elrond, etc. 😄

On the other hand, you could still "get" the overall events in the whole LOTR book without exactly reading "The Hobbit". 😄

Reading "The Hobbit" is really just for some further informations and understanding of everything that's going on. 😄

It's a cool book though. I suggest you read it whether it's necessary to LOTR stuff or not. 😄

By the way, are you related to ash007? 🙂

PrincessAsh... you can read the introduction! It explains some things that happened in the hobbit

hey PrincessAsh007

we have the same name well kinda 😛
got a major shock when i first saw the thread i thaught i had writtern it

If you want to, you can. The Hobbit just tells about Bilbo went on an adventure and came upon the one ring from Gollum. You saw part of that in the FotR prelude.

Helpful, but not necessary.

You said it! 😄 I was coming up with the exact description but I can't seem to figure it out. 😛 I also meant it wasn't really necessary, but on the other hand, it could be really helpful. LOL...I even posted those long explanations in my first post. 😛

Again, it's helpful, but not necessary. 😄
