"Greed" is from the 20s I think. No famous people in there I think. It's a dramatic four-hour film (Von Stroheim wanted it to be 7 hours!) about a couple and the wife's so greedy that they have a lot of money but they live in the most horrid conditions of poverty, just because she doesn't want to spend any money.
I just got Cleopatar (among others), restored to the promotional 4-hour premiere version. But director Mankiewicz intended it to be six hours in total, two times 3 hours. They're still looking for the original footage to restore it.
So yes, that IS possible. Look at SW: that'll be one big saga of almost 13 hours.
