There's a lot of people who use existing beats. Like I know that in Buck 65's "Sleep Apnoea" he used an M.I.C beat. I forget witch one. He just slowed it down a bit, sounds actually better at that tempo imo. 😮‍💨

Actually M.I.C. used the Buck 65 beat and not the other way around 😛 but yea, people flip samples all the time. It happens everyday. Nothing new to hip-hop. Mainstream or underground.

and Josh is definitely summer time music with his laid back flow. That's when I really got into him, like 6 or 7 summers ago getting 😮‍💨 in the AZ sun.

Hey anybody have any hip-hop DVD's? I highly recommend Style Wars and Scratch. Both are essential viewing.

do i have to pay for them? cuz then we'd have a small problem.

vast aires verse is dope on that track, and the del song is awesome. he has this intense verse about slavery, then he uses that as a metaphor for the record industry.

that song really showed me how ill hip hop can be, del is one of my favourite artists of all time.

Scratch

A feature-length documentary film about hip-hop DJing, otherwise known as turntablism. From the South Bronx in the 1970s to San Francisco now, the world's best scratchers, beat-diggers, party-rockers, and producers wax poetic on beats, breaks, battles, and the infinite possibilities of vinyl.

Style Wars

Some call it tagging, some call it writing, still others call it bombing--it's all graffiti. Whether it's art or not is another matter, but it's undeniably illegal. Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant's historic PBS documentary Style Wars tracks the rise and fall of subway graffiti in New York in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At the peak of its popularity, graffiti was as much a part of B-boy culture as rapping, scratching, and breaking. The filmmakers present a sympathetic, but well-rounded portrait of their subject through extensive interviews with taggers--notably Seen, Kase, and Dondi--art collectors, transit authorities, and even Mayor Ed Koch, who would eventually put the hammer down. Along the way, they documented the burgeoning breakdance scene, with a focus on the world-famous Rock Steady Crew. The soundtrack features selections from Grandmaster Flash, the Treacherous Three, and other tagger-approved icons of old-school hip-hop.

Featuring music from: Defintive Jux recording artists El-P, RJD2 and Aesop Rock

damn those look like theyr'e worth checkin out. i wanna pick up one of the new freestyle videos that are goin around too.

Seriously man, i just quickly listened to that Del track before but now i've had a good listen - shit is crazy! Really vivid lyrics about slavery and then the verse about the music industry hits the nail right on the head. So many fools nowadays going for the quick money and then get left out in the cold when people get tired of their boring lyrics and lame beats.
I have to be honest and say i've not heard much from Del but if he brings it like this then i'm gonna check out some of his albums. What do you recommend?

Thanks for the info D00m, they sound great. 👆

OUCH, NOBODY LIKES STRUGGLING WITH PAINFUL CRUNCHES ON THE FLOOR

OMFG MY LIFE IS COMPLETE NOW:

In the last 10+ years, few labels can match the quality output of Peanuts & Corn. This dedication to music making and hip-hop is the main theme of Craftsmen, a high energy recording featuring 15 tracks of mastery on the beats and rhymes.
Park-Like Setting was born in 1999, as mcenroe was looking for a new rhyme partner after the hiatus of Farm Fresh. He chose John Smith, then an up and comer on the Winnipeg Hip-Hop scene, and they released “School Day 2, Garbage Day 4” in 2000. Five years later, they have firmly established their solo careers with “disenfranchised”, “the convenience ep”, “Pinky’s Laundromat” and “Blunderbus”. They decided to add a third MC to the group, Yy, who is the newest member of the Break Bread crew and really starting to hit his stride as a recording artist. After writing and recording demos in fall of 2004, they came up with the Craftsmen concept.
mcenroe’s beats set the tone for the record from the moment it begins - dark and dirty with big, banging drums. Crasftmen is edgier than any P&C release before it. The tone is “Put up or shut up”, no self pity. “Barbie Doll Eyes” is a look at the Extreme Makeover fad, “Short Pants Long Sleeves” a dedicatoin to fall, and “Eight Bars Each” a 9 member posse cut featuring Pip Skid, Birdapres, Cadence Weapon, Evil, Gruf and Satchill Paige.
Fans of P&C have been eagerly waiting for this record since it was announced in summer of 2004, and they will be feeling this one.

1. Wax On, Wax Off
2. Cut Once
3. Craftsmen
4. DFA

I know this isn't hip hop, but I need some help with soulseek. I recently joined and being the idiot that I am, I clicked on a person's share all folder. Over a thousand songs went into my transfers section. Now whenever I start soulseek it freezes with the only option is exiting. Should I just reinstall it?

F*CK these new PLS tracks are INSANE. If the whole album is like this I will cry. I didn't want to get my expectations too high, but f*ck it's hard when these tracks sound this ill!
