MF Doom Promises More Danger Doom, Madvillain

Rob Kleckner and Amy Phillips report:
"Meatwad make the money, see/ Meatwad get the honeys, G." Well, that rap is by Schooly D, not MF Doom, but if Doom has his way, he'll be actually voicing Cartoon Network characters, not just rapping about them, on the next album from Danger Doom, the MC's collaboration with DJ Danger Mouse. Danger Doom's debut album, The Mouse and the Mask, debuted at number 41 on the Billboard 200 last week.

Speaking to Billboard.com, Doom said, "I wanted to do that with this album. I started to do some characters after I got the standard songs out of the way, but then [the label] said they needed all the songs in. On the next album, though, I'm doing some characters. I have enough beats from Danger to do half an album already."

Doom is known for creating all sorts of characters, but the idea of a whole album of the rapper hatin' on Meatwad via Shake could be an Adult Swim fan's wet dream. Ew, just the thought of that is really gross.

Doom and Danger Mouse would like to support The Mouse and the Mask with a 2006 tour, but plans are still quite up in the air. Doom hopes they can have Adult Swim characters on stage and in costume. He told Billboard, "I haven't met the human beings behind these voices, so to me, it's still just Meatwad. Everyone should be in costume. If I'm going to have them on the record, I have to have them on the tour." The Smokin' Grooves tour meets Disney on Ice? Start hoarding LSD now.

Doom is also set to voice a character on a Cartoon Network show called "Perfect Hair Forever". He says, "I play a giraffe [whose] name is Sherman. He's Sherman from New York." Meatballs, giraffes, cups, metal faces-- dude's crazy. He also must be snorting Red Bull, what with all the projects he's got in the works.

Doom recently told Pitchfork that a follow-up to 2004's Madlib collaboration Madvillainy is cooking, as are MF Doom and Viktor Vaughn solo joints and, surprisingly, another album with his old school agit-rap group K.M.D. Doom produced a few tracks on the forthcoming Ghostface record Fish Scale, and the pair are in the process of completing a full-length collaboration. He's also in talks with super-producer Just Blaze.

Jesus, this guys working on so much shit. Is Just Blaze the guy who does beats for Jay-Z!? That would be awesome to see a Dangerdoom show with them in full costume. And for sure i'll catch Doom's voicework on that cartoon show. 👆 😄

Yeah I posted an interview about Danger Doom 2 earlier in the thread. Honestly, I'm starting to get a little burnt out on Doom. Most of his stuff is great, but with the exception of Vaudeville Villain its all starting to merge into one long weed-addled cartoon. For the first time I'm beginning to see why many people call him vastly overrated.

Both these Nas albums are great. Enjoy if u haven't heard them yet.

that it was written link is unavailable, illmatic is a classic, so many memorable lines. i wanna get god's son by him, i have a track off it on a mixtape and it was sick.

God's Son is horrible imo. If you don't have it, get The Lost Tapes cd. Nas is almost untouchable on that one, the Bellybutton Window song is one of the greatest pieces of storytelling in hip-hop history. I like just as much as Illmatic.

well thats just an opinoin, his style is cartoonish and very very abtract, i don think ive heard anyone rap like him, but nonetheless I like his lyrics. i dont think hes over rated, he is out there, and he is getting notice from the mainstream, which IMO can only hurt him, but go figure. 😎

What do you guys think of John Smith's Pinky's Laundromat? I want to get the new PLS from the P&C website but the shipping is pretty steep so i may as well make it worth my while and get 2 albums while im there (yeah i know what a chore). I like the concept behind Pinky's but just wanted to get some feedback before i got it. Thanks.

Welcome back, Kool. I was wondering where your ass was. Considering that you're a fan of John Smith it's pretty much a no brainer to get Pinky's Laundromat. Simple as that (aka of course it's good and worth buying). That being said, I think there are albums that are better from the P & C camp out there. So as a John Smith fan you gotta get it, but as a P & C fan you probably want to get more of their earlier stuff if you haven't already. How much is the shipping for you? It's only a penny for me, but you do live in NZ...

BLASPHEMY 😂

I can see how somebody would get burned out on Doom, but in my opinion in no way is he vastly overrated. He's been putting out classic albums since 1991 and today hasn't dropped a truly "bad" album. How many artists can you name that have been holding it down like Doom since 1991? Still putting out good material in 2005? The list is very very short. He's been underrated forever in hip-hop and it wasn't until recently that he's actually gotten some respect.

Hey D00m, thanks for the feedback. I really like what i've read about Pinky's (i have a soft spot for good concept albums) and i admit to being a big John Smith fan.
Last time i got PLS and Blunderbus from P&C they were $11 each and shipping was $14, i figure its because i live at the arse end of the world but you can see why i dont want to just get one album at a time from them.
On the subject of ordering cd's, im STILL waiting for my copy of DangerDoom to arrive from amazon, i guess they are sending it by bicycle courier. 🙁

The Lost Tapes is great but it's no illmatic so don't get your expectations too high.

I'll post a track or two if you'd like from Pinky's. What other album are you thinking about getting? Ouch @ 14 bucks. That is a good idea to get more than one. For sure... Amazon has been pretty good to me, but that sucks that you're still waiting for Dangerdoom. But don't worry, your patience will be rewarded.

B Boys in Occupied Mexico and his self titled are both dope. But my favorite 2Mex is the Mind Clouders album.

Yeah that'd be great if you could post some, i've got Bible belt Babylon and Screwin the pooch but i'd love to hear some more even though the album probably sounds alot better when listened to as a whole.
