hey i just thought of this,A Tribe Called Quest Vs. Public Enemy
in terms of lyrical skills i give it to Public enemey, but music wise I just dont know.
Lyrics wise.. Chuck D is easily better than both Q-Tip and Phife Dawg. Neither group has really advanced lyrics as far as rhyming and wordplay goes so both pretty much rely on the content, and I'd say Chuck's content is pretty damn good.
Delivery wise.. though I really like Q-Tip's voice, it's one of the best in hip hop, Chuck D just has such a powerful and energetic delivery.. it's unmatched IMO. Flava Flav's delivery is pretty good too, so this one goes to PE also.
Production wise... I'd give it to ATCQ by a hair. I just really like jazz based production. Though the bomb squad is excellent too so it's not like it's much better or anything I just prefer Tribe's production.
PE meant so much to me when i was growing up so its real hard for me to be unbiased when it comes to this.
Chuck has one of the most amazing voices in all of hip hop, it fits PE's music perfectly because it like the messages are impossible to ignore.
I will always have a soft spot for ATCQ to because i grew up listening to them also, but PE taught me alot more because they were so outspoken about standing up for yourself as a black person.
As i have got older i enjoy listening to ATCQ more than PE, as Afro pointed out the jazzy hip hop vibe is a thing of beauty and i'm more mellow and less rebellious now.
So to sum up PE>ATCQ for lyrics and meaning, ATCQ>PE for production because i am a old stoned bastard who likes mellowing out to some jazz instead of pumping the black fist.
😮💨
it started as a typical cartoon strip in the newspapaer but it got really popular or at least to black people, no racism intended, but it brings up a lot of conrtoversial things like R. kelly, constant attacks on NBA players, obviously polotics, and other stuff. but its all meant to be funny. so then they turned it into a cartoon. the voice for the old man in the cartoon is done by Pops from Friday series and other comedy movies.
I love it, not just cuz its funny but cuz it brings up a lotta strong points. like in the R. Kelly trial. no doubt there was racism there but the creator of the strip brounght up a preety good point to go against him, like standards for instant and common dignity which apparently R.kelly and the girl had none when they did the act and taped it. its good cuz he just dosent take the side of the black man, he attacks the black man too, with very valid points.the whole thing is ment to make you think. I love it, finnaly a cartoon that actually attacks stupid ass steroetypes and common ignorance in people and our horrible government. very very good cartoon. 👆 👆
